Disciples Women’s Ministries

Since 1874, Disciples Women’s Ministries (DWM) has worked to grow awareness of the need for women’s missions and ministry worldwide. We accomplish this through focusing on justice, spiritual formation, and leadership development. These pillars are how DWM works to help women develop a sense of personal responsibility for the mission of the Church in the world. Based on Micah 6:8, DWM is a conduit for diverse connections, empowering each woman to find her voice and live out her call. As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), DWM welcomes all to the table as Christ has welcomed us. Ultimately, we are a network of women committed to the justice-seeking, compassion-focused mission of Jesus Christ with no membership requirements or conditions.

A Letter from Nebraska DWM Leadership

Hello Disciple Women,

My name is Angela ”Angie” Emons and I’m the new Disciples Women’s Ministries Co-coordinator for the Nebraska Region.

A little about me…. I grew up in the DoC Church and was baptized at First Christian Church in Nebraska City. I attended Bethany Christian Church while I lived in Lincoln, attended Kamp Kaleo as a kid, and have been to retreats in Hastings, Aurora, and across the state. Previously I served on the Regional Cabinet in several capacities, and spent 2018-2022 as the Nebraska Disciples Women’s President.

I am back in my home church of Nebraska City, currently serving as an Elder, Financial Secretary, Hospitality Chair, and work for the church as the Administrative Assistant.

I currently serve as the Regional Board Secretary.

I am very interested in working with the Church Narrative Project.

And I am most of all excited to be serving, building relationships, and working with you!

– Angie Emons.

Blessing Boxes

The Blessing Box was created in 1953 by the women who founded Christian Women’s Fellowship. The idea was to make a monetary deposit into the blessing box anytime one found themselves in a space of gratitude for something God had done for them or a loved one. Since then, Blessing Boxes have been kept in the homes and offices of women across the Church to as a way for them to express their gratitude for everyday blessings by giving to others. Now, for almost 70 years, the women of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have been able to pay their attitude of gratitude forward for the blessings they have received. In this way, they perpetuate the spirit of blessing others while at the same time acknowledging their own person blessings. Purchase blessing boxes for your church at www.discipleshomemissions.org.

Just Women

Just Women is the official Bible Study resource for Disciples Women’s Ministries. It is published annually and is comprised of bible studies and articles that provide relevant information and sustainable tools of faith and ministry for its readers. Writing contributions are sourced from denominational staff, lay and clergywomen across the denomination, and ecumenical partners.

Spring Retreat

Every year we come together as Disciple Women from across all of Nebraska for a Saturday of fellowship and friendship.
