Anti-Racism / Pro Reconciliation
As of 2020 all active clergy, both ordained and commissioned, are required to complete six hours of Healthy Boundary Training for Clergy every three years. Approved training is provided by the Christian Church in Nebraska. Other options may be: courses offered by other Regions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), member Communions/Denominations of the Churches Uniting in Christ, or trainings pre-approved by the Pastoral Leadership Commission on a case-by-case basis (please contact the Regional Minister directly, and be prepared to submit a full schedule and syllabus of the training). All this and more can be found in the ‘Nebraska Guidebook to Ministry‘.

Lexington Theological Seminary offers a opportunity for clergy to plug into coursework in an auditor capacity, both cost friendly and satisfactory for your continuing education requirements.

The course will also introduce tools for allyship, anti-racist practices, and strategies for fostering inclusive environments. Join the Reconciliation Ministry team from the Disciples Central Rocky Mountain Region for a five-week study of Layla F. Saad’s Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor. The book guides readers step by step through examining white privilege, the meaning of allyship, patterns of anti-Blackness, racial stereotypes, cultural appropriation, and the ongoing work of responding to race with honesty and commitment. Its 28 days of readings and journaling prompts invite sustained self-reflection that supports meaningful social change. We will meet weekly on Zoom for facilitated reflection on what emerged in the previous week’s readings. Registration is required for all participants.
All Laypersons & Clergy in the Disciples Central Rocky Mountain Region are welcome to register.
Participants are encouraged to obtain a copy of the book in time for our first gathering. There is no pre-reading required. We will begin the daily readings as a group beginning on Jan 18, 2026.
